On 26 June, in celebration of World Refrigeration Day 2024, CAREL employees participated in the "Every degree counts" initiative, organised by the Group to raise awareness about global temperature increases. By raising the thermostat by 2 degrees in all buildings at the Brugine Headquarters, excluding production areas, 640 kWh of energy were saved in a single day, preventing the emission of 293 kg of CO2. This energy saving is equivalent to the emissions from a petrol car travelling approximately 5,000 km.

Today, one month after the event, we reflect on the results and impact of this initiative: if it had been extended to an entire working week, we would have saved approximately 3,200 kWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of an average Italian family, preventing the emission of nearly one tonne of CO2, equivalent to what 50 trees can absorb in a year.

This project is part of CAREL's broader sustainability plan, aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices in line with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria.

Andrea Ton, Group HSE & Facility Manager, stated: "This result demonstrates that even small actions can have a significant impact. Our active participation in World Refrigeration Day is one of many initiatives we undertake to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness among all CAREL employees about the importance of adopting responsible and consistent behaviours, both within the company and in their lives outside of work."
